There are several good reasons why you would want to own a wood chipper. Some of these reasons include the fact that you would be able to quickly and easily do your early spring and fall pruning and trimming.

Even if you have a large amount of debris, you can condense it very quickly and easily using a wood chipper.

Another reason why you may want to use a chipper, is so that you can get free mulch from the trees that you already have in your backyard.

This mulch can be used for keeping weeds from growing.   This is because wood bark, contains natural herbicides, which will make it more difficult for weeds to grow in your backyard.

Once you know that you want to get a wood chipper, your next step is to find out whether you want to buy  new or  used wood chippers for sale. Another possibility is if you could just get a wood chipper rental rather than buying one.  If you find a new wood chipper, you are probably going to pay a serious amount of money.

For a decent chipper, you are looking at paying around $1500. If you buy this wood chipper at five years old, you will be able to purchase it for $500 to $600. If you rent a wood chipper for a day, it will probably end up costing you $60 to $75.

The way that you justify buying a wood chipper as opposed to renting one, is whether or not you think you will be needing to rent one more than 10 times in the next five years. If the answer is yes, then you should probably buy one. If the answer is no, then you should just continue to rent one because in the long run it will be cheaper for you to rent than it will be to buy.
