Keep Your House Flea Free

Keeping your house flea free is of vital importance if you own pets such as cats or dogs.

Most people think of fleas as a relatively harmless pest that afflict most cats or dogs but keeping your pet completely free flea is a key to the health not only of the pet but of your entire family.

A single female flea can lay up to four thousand or more flea eggs at a time so even a few fleas on your pet when it comes home from a walk or from the park, may soon turn into a full blown problem.

A flea takes about twenty one days to go from the larval stage to the point where it can start attacking the host and sucking blood. Within a month, therefore your pet may go from a few fleas to a very large number of them sucking on it.

Fleas are also known to suck human blood or at least bite humans even though they need cats dogs to complete their life cycle.

They are carriers of many diseases so if you have fleas on your pet you are putting the health and well-being of your entire family in jeopardy. You can get rid of fleas in house through a number of different methods.

The easiest of these methods is prevention and that can be achieved through something as simple as regular and thorough vacuuming up of the house.

Vacuum your house regularly and make sure you get to those hard to reach spots where there is little to no sunlight because that is where fleas and ticks lay their eggs.

The bottoms of drapes and curtains, underneath furniture or right on the edges of furniture and other dark spots should be vacuumed up with extra care.

If you have not managed to keep your house and your pet flea free then you need to buy an effective flea bite treatment. There are two ways you can go about this process. The first and most drastic method is a flea bomb.

You apply it to your dog or cat and the animal sheds a lot of hair and fur and all fleas except those at the larval stage are killed instantly. Repeat the process twenty one days later so that the fleas that have matured from the larvae are also killed and you will have a flea free pet once again.

The second method is with a combination of topical sprays and pills.
