Different ways to whiten teeth

Good grooming is an important aspect in our health and dental care is one area that contributes to our overall well being.

Having white teeth helps to boost a person’s confidence and anyone can achieve this because there are many ways to whiten teeth depending on a person’s taste and preference.

Whitening is mostly applicable to those people with healthy gums, no fillings and successful results are obtained with people whose teeth are yellow.

To achieve this, one may use recommended toothpastes containing additives that are able to eliminate stains of all types.

However all toothpastes only help to remove stains on the surface and are not capable of bleaching but only aid to lighten slightly the color by one shade. Gels are also used for lightening and most gels usually have peroxide and are clear in color.

Gels are applied using a tiny brush on the surface and most are recommended to be used two times in a day for up to 14 days. People who use gels are able to notice results at first but full results may be obtained after around four months.

One can also use teeth whitening strips and these are usually coated with peroxide gel and may be invisible as they are very thin. They are used two times in a day for an interval of thirty minutes and are meant to be used for 30 days.

Immediate results are seen once one has started to use them but complete results can be obtained after four months.

Other ways to whiten teeth include using tray based whiteners which needs one to fill the mouth with the gel solution containing peroxide and leaving the tray in the mouth for several hours and repeated up to a period of four weeks.

There is also the in-office bleaching which is done by the dentist and uses both heat and light and in this method, significant results are noticed immediately. Compared to using toothpaste, teeth whitening strips and gels, this process is short, quick but very expensive.
